i'm happy i'm here. i really am. it's such a great experience. but i really cannot wait to go home. hopefully i'll have a change in feelings once once classes are in full swing, and we start doing more weekend trips, etc. but right now, i'd give anything for my bed and a nice american meal. pancakes, salad, even burgers are seeming more appealing than dal, dal and more dal.

i also think that ed compares us a lot to the group before us...i don't know whether he likes us, or doesn't like us, but he always talks about how this group before was so great, etc. and that's fine, i'm sure they were great people...but sometimes, i feel like he's trying to compare us to them, and that's impossible because we're all so different from each other, let alone everyone who was here on the last trip...we'll see how this pans out.

i went for a run today by myself. we were advised to never run alone, always with a partner. i asked everyone, but no one wanted to go with me, and i'm not about to sacrifice how i feel (which has been supershitty with no physical activity) just because no one wants to go with me. so i went alone and was stared at by all the indian guys on campus...my adidas shorts and NJ state track and field shirt were just to scandalous, i guess.

skype isn't working well. (eep, a spider just climbed over the computer. gross) and i can't upload pictures to the internet, or send them in attachments to e-mails because the bandwidth isn't great enough to do that here. so, unless i figure out a way to put them on a disk and upload them at an internet cafe or something, you'll just need to wait until i get home to see pictures. kind of blows, but that's the price i pay...it's either an internet connection that has no e-mail access, or one with shitty skype connection and no uploading of pictures...i think e-mail is more important.

we need to register with the police here tomorrow. otherwise, we could be jailed when we try to leave the country. jail = rape so off to the police station i go.

other than that, nothing much new is happening.....wish i could be more entertaining, but until something happens, you'll just need to deal with my dull thoughts and mindless updates.

hang in there kid! the first few weeks is always the hardest. and it's chinese custom to think that spiders in your house are good luck (wtf rite?), so maybe you're just like the luckiest girl in mysore! expect things in the mail once i'm abroad.
