yesterday, we all attended a lecture on the second floor of the guesthouse by a guest speaker...we were informed of it this weekend, and all we were told was that it would be a lecture about "God, something and something else", so we all figured it would be a talk on hinduism, and perhaps how it's changed through globalization or something.
our speaker introduced the talk by defining a layman and how he'd be discussing god as a non-professional to other non-professionals on the topic. ok. fine. he told us there were no such thing as wrong answers, so don't be afraid to bring up discussion. ok. fine.
the first 10 minutes were what we expected...what defines someone as religious. what is a layman? are they agnostic? or atheist? how can you get in touch with what you think is god?
but then things began to change. he talked about how one can be a champion of god. and then turned the talk to how to recognize things within yourself. then how to be a better person. then how to learn to speak less and listen more. and it was pretty interesting, but we all couldn't figure out if it was subliminal messaging set up by raju, telling us how to be better people (since that seems to be something that he feels we need to learn)...
we then asked the lecturer what his field of study was...was he a Dr. of sorts? no. did he study religions? no. philosophy? no. was he a motivational speaker? no.
it turns out he sold explosives to companies.
???
too much work. and i think i'm getting sick. but i watched home alone 3 times in the pasy day and a half...getting ready to go homeeeeee
