so, this is it.
we had our last final yesterday evening...our dance performance. this past week and a half, we've held multiple 2 hour, intense practices. i was so nervous that we wouldn't be able to pull it together for the final show, but we were amazing, and did an incredible job. it was so much fun, and i'd do it again in a heart beat. no questions asked (which i now know means that as soon as i come home, i'm going to have 10032198097123098 people asking me to do the dance for them).

the swamiji never showed. he had to cancel last minute for "certain, very important reasons"....ohhhhhhh the swam.

it took us forever to get dressed and put all the jewelery on and have our makeup done (which was crazy fun looking). hopefully i'll get some pictures loaded up when i get home (i'm not even going to try for right here, right now).

speaches were read...Becky and Elizabeth were so eloquent, and perfectly summed up how we all felt about this trip. Jake was asked to speak on the spot, but was so nice in what he said. and ed's speech....don't even get me started. tear city.

after we did our three dances, gwennie performed her song she's been working on with her voice guru. i can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it was, and how amazing her voice is. i was crying. others were crying. indians were singing along. and clapping. and everyone was so into it. it was beautifulbeautifulbeautiful.

(i know it seems like there was a lot of crying going on. and there was. but we were able to hold it together)

after, we went to the green hotel for our last dinner together. even bahadur and the bus driver (namaste!) ate with us, which is something they wouldn't normally ever do.

alana and mackenzie just left to go to the airport. they're not coming home with us, but instead, are going north to play in india for another week with alana's parents (delhi, jaipur, etc).

i know i was so excited to go home. and i am still super excited to go home. but i know i'm going to miss this place so much. these last few weeks have really made it feel like home here...i suppose i feel as though i should be going home for a week or two, but then coming back and finishing up the school year here. all the teachers have been inviting us to their homes for food and sweets and drinks and it's just amazing how sweet they are to us. this whole leaving process is very bittersweet. i know i'll return to india. i would love to come back as soon as possible. and i think the thing that keeps it from being so hard is that i know i'll see these people again. and i know that we'll all be friends back at conn, simply because you can't go from being so so so close to everyone here, to not talking in 1 month. it won't happen. and i'm happy that i've made 12 great new friends.

so. today is the last full day. i need to finish packing. i need to shower. i need to spend my last day running around mysore. and then eat dinner at raju and vidya's house, and then airport --> airplane --> home, sunday afternoon.

india. it's wow.
